The Heart Knows

I snapped this photo this past weekend as I watched
the horrific dark clouds of an approaching storm
roll in to overtake
what had previously been a beautiful spring day.
As the two opposing forces met,
this brilliant blue opening appeared between them.

(So much could be said here, but sometimes a picture says it all.)

Birds by the hundreds travel together to an unknown destination.

It's A Mystery

Sometimes, art just happens.
This is the most unusual sunset I have ever witnessed,
and I am actually at a loss to explain what created it.
The lengthy horizontal lines were obviously drawn by airplanes,
but the vertical image baffles me. Any ideas, folks?

Survivors

Perky pansies, those hearty little flowers who
often make it through the winter when others don't,
dance merrily in an early spring breeze
in a basket hanging on my front porch.

(The chain belongs to my porch swing, who is also happy
to see spring arrive!)

Beauty in Brown

Those leaves that do not succumb to winter's cold
hold on firmly throughout its duration,
knowing that the warmth of spring will
once again bring them new life.

Tennessee Snow

A light dusting of winter white dissipates with the afternoon sun.

Foreign Substance

Tennessee greenery recently found itself host
to cold, fluffy white stuff.
(Not to worry, it was quite harmless and soon went away.)

Winter Resolve

A lone icicle hangs from an old tin roof,
slowly succombing to warming weather one drop at a time.

Daring Debut

A late winter's snow offers a chilly reminder to anxious blossoms
that spring has not yet officially arrived.

Beautiful things await those who have the courage to enter.
